Our Herbology/Divination and Charms/Potions classes were very well-attended, with no empty seats for either class – congratulations to Professors Deserand, Bloodthorne, Kobiyashi and Voertigern for such good work!

Unfortunately, the trial of Kraven Bloodthorne did not go well. We will post later with more details.

This year, we are announcing a whole new contest, the Tri-Wizard Tournament, where you can win all-weekend passes to three of the year’s biggest conventions – NanDesuKan 2009, Tales from Avistrum V at MileHiCon 2009, and Starfest 2010!

The Tournament

The Tri-Wizard Tournament will be an all-weekend contest, beginning Friday night. Contestants must complete three tasks, and compete as a Galactic Champion, a Fantasy Champion, or an Anime Champion.

Task 1: The House of Vampyr Game

Champions must participate in the House of Vampyr game. Check your bag when you arrive at the convention for details on how to play. Bring proof of your participation to the Avistrum room any time Saturday or Sunday until 2PM and you can proceed to the second task. At that time, you will have to declare whether you are a Galactic, Fantasy, or Anime Champion.

Task 2: The Avistrum Questionnaire or Attend Three Classes

You must complete a questionnaire on your knowledge of the characters and history of Avistrum. Those who score at least 85% will have their name entered in to one of three cauldrons for the final task.

Alternate path: if taking tests is not your strong suit, you can attend three of our four classes for the weekend and receive equal credit.

Task 3: Tri-Wizard Jeopardy!

Everyone who completes the first two tasks will have their names entered in one of three cauldrons as a prospective Galactic, Fantasy, or Anime Champion. One name will be drawn from each cauldron to compete in Tri-Wizard Jeopardy!, with questions from all three spheres as well as many others. The Jeopardy! champion will win the grand prize!

A weekend pass to each of the 3 hottest convention events of the next 12 months:

• NanDesuKan 2009 (Sept. 11-13, 2009)
• Tales from Avistrum V at MileHiCon 41 (Oct. 23-25, 2009)
• Starfest 2010 (April 16-18, 2010)
