It’s that time of year once again, as Avistrum prepares for Starfest 2008! More details and schedule are coming soon, but we can confirm that Wizard Jeopardy is back for the third year in a row, and our very popular Quidditch tournament (using Quidditch World Cup for the PS2) will also run both Saturday and Sunday. We will be offering 4 classes this year – two on Saturday and two on Sunday. Don’t miss out – you can purchase your all-weekend pass at starland.com!

Starfest 2007 is April 20-22, 2007, at the Denver Tech Center Marriott, 8800 S. Syracuse St., Denver, CO 80237 (Google Maps, MapQuest).

Art Contest People’s Choice Voting – Come by and view all of the submissions for the art contest, and vote on your favorite for People’s Choice! Winners will be announced on Sunday, April 22.

Friday, April 20

8:00PM – Wizard Jeopardy – Come to Main Events to have a chance to participate in Wizard Jeopardy! Sign up at our table starting from the opening of the convention to have a chance to win prizes including movie posters, gift certificates, Harry Potter collectibles, and a weekend pass to Starfest 2008! The first 50 people in the door receive a free Sirius Black mourning armband you can wear when you go see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on July 13th.

Saturday, April 21

10:00AM – 6:00PM – Lady Viola Fey‘s Death Day Party! – The weekend of Starfest just happens to coincide with the Lady’s 300th Death Day! Come by and make her a card and enjoy some refreshments while they last!

10:00AM – 6:00PM – Quidditch Photos – Come by and have your picture taken riding a broom and chasing the Golden Snitch, or swatting a Bludger, or shooting the Quaffle at the hoops!

10:00AM – 5:00PM – Virtual Quidditch Tournament – Try your hand at Quidditch World Cup on the PlayStation 2. Meet Vittoria d’Medici, the new Quidditch coach, who just recently retired from the Italian national team. We will crown a champion both Saturday and Sunday!

11:00AM – 12:00 Noon – Introduction to Transfiguration – Join Professor Aberfoyle for an introduction (or refresher) to this core subject in your wizarding education. Try your hand at transfiguring rocks back into rats! (Space limited.)

1:00PM – 2:00PM – Defense Against Dark Magic: Pensieves – Headmaster Dowling will teach you all about pensieves and give you the chance to construct one of your own! (Space limited.)

Sunday, April 22

Dragonology – Special Presentation with Damien J. Sabre

Following his internship at the Romania Wild Dragon Reservation, Damien is currently working his way toward an BMA (Bachelor of Magical Arts) in Dragonology at the Magical School of Creatures & Dragons. His professor has assigned him the task of making a presentation on Dragons to a student body. What better place to do that than with us here at Avistrum?

Practical Magics – Potpourri Creations with Mistress Craefter

It will feel as though you are in the Cottage itself! Mistress Craefter shares a part of her wealth of knowledge in this fun and enjoyable class.

Divination

Taught by eveyone’s “favorite” Professor, Kraven Bloodthorne. For those who have taken Divination lessons from Prof. Bloodthorne before, this is a whole new lesson. But then, if you really were any good at this, you’d already know that (Professor Bloodthorne made me write that).

Practical Magic

This will be your first opportunity to take a lesson from Avistrum’s Mistress Craefter. Come learn to make magical headache remedies and nightmare chasers. Warning: those with asthma or other breathing problems may want to avoid this class – we will be working with several aromatic ingredients.

You can pre-register through Mollyguard or show up on the day. Space is limited to 25 students for each class, however, so don’t wait!
